Attacking in War (by Bogy)
Attacking villages in a clan war is admittedly more challenging than attacking villages outside of clan wars. Well, first of all, there are reinforcement troops. You are lucky to find a War CC with wallbreakers, healers, golems, balloons, and giants. They're pretty much useless. Even luckier if no one gave them troops! Naah, that will never happen. So expect to be greeted by maxed wizards, maxed archers or maxed witches. Second reason why war bases are more difficult, is that nothing is being upgraded. All defenses work. Unlike outside of clan wars, some upgrade all their air defenses at the same time. That's a no-no.. But fortunately for us, some people still do. Third reason why war bases are more difficult, you won't find tombstones. You won't find exploded bomb traps. You won't find empty x-bows and empty inferno towers. These things that we normally look for in villages to attack. You won't find them in Clan Wars. Fourth reason why war bases are more difficult, heroes are awake! You just reduced the number of troops you need to destroy the village, coz you're gonna have to destroy these heroes first.
1. Pesky CC Troops - You don't want your hogriders getting stabbed behind their backs, while they're busy destroying defense buildings. So LURE THEM OUT first. For some villages, the Clan Castle is strategically situated right in the center of the village, that it may not be easy to lure them out. Skip that village and look for another one. Ugh, but if you really have to, then send 2-3 hogs so they can jump over the walls and get further inside the village. This will alert the CC troops to come out of hiding. Once they are ALL out, place one archer at the corner of the map, away from defenses, let them ALL come after the archer, away from the main village, then surround them with barbs and archers for the kill. I stressed the word ALL, coz there are times when you think you killed them all, more and higher tiered troops come out of the Clan Castle. By default, Tier 1 troops come out first (i.e. Barbarian, Archer, Goblin), followed by Tier 2 troops (i.e. Giant, WallBreaker, Balloon, Wizard), followed by Tier 3 troops (i.e. Healer, Dragon, P.E.K.K.A), then Dark Troops (i.e. Minion, Hog Rider, Valkyrie, Golem, Witch). In cases where you run out of troops, it's always nice to bring a lightning spell. Strike those pesky troops!
2. CC Troops Pattern - Watch attack replays of your clannies. If you observe a pattern, prepare your troops accordingly. For going against a dragon in their CCs, 30 archers should be sufficient to take it down including heroes. For going against witches, use one lightning strike on witches, not on skeletons. For going against wizards with splash damage, best to drop archers, making a circle or an arch around the wizards.
3. TH Levels and Heroes - TH8s have only one hero. Lure him out away from aerial defenses with archers and kill the Barb King with a few minions (5). TH9s have both heroes. Find their location and like CC Troops, lure them both out as well.
